Mothermouth & The Moonstone

   

Highstones are tall jagged peaks surrounding Mothermouth, they were originally a mine, but they were abandoned by Twoleggeds. They can easily be seen from far away. The earth here will grow darker and the grass with turn courser until giving way to bare rocky soil dotted with heather. 

Mothermouth is a large square cave opening beneath a stone archway. It gained it's name from the large mouth-like opening. It is very dark here, and your eyes will be unable to see, so cats must use their whiskers to feel the edges of the tunnel on their way in. The air inside is stale, with the tangs of dust, stone, and frigid air. Inside Mothermouth are two tunnel leading deeper into the mine. The tunnels branch off in opposite directions, with one tunnel going to the Moonstone, but the other going somewhere deep into the earth. The correct tunnel has tall, smooth walls glistening with moisture and goes down a rough slope. The paths are very rocky, and may cut the pads of cats. 

It opens up to a cavern with vast curved walls which end in a high arching ceiling, that opens up to a hole. The air smells fresher here, with scents of heather and wind coming through the hole. Moonlight filters through the hole, and illuminates the Moonstone, a large quartz crystal, several tail lengths high. The cat is usually dazzled by the extremely bright light, and is hit with a barge of scent that often surprise the cats with the Moonstone's power. To communicate with Starclan, cats will have to press his or her nose to the rock. They fall asleep instantaneously. It is said to be very cold, and many believe they are not dreaming until they wake up and realize their nose to no longer pressed up to the stone.
